What is an STD?
An STD is a sexually transmitted disease. An STD can also be referred to as an STI, or sexually transmitted infection. STDs and STIs are transmitted sexually, meaning that they are contracted during vaginal, anal or oral sex. There are a wide variety of STDs and STIs, both symptomatic and asymptomatic, which is why regular STD testing is critical if you are sexually active.

Early Detection
Some STIs have symptoms. Others do not. The only way to be certain that you are protecting your sexual health is to get tested regularly. Sometimes, STIs can advance to a dangerous place without ever showing symptoms. Other STIs can have very minor symptoms that evolve if left untreated. Early detection is the best way to make sure you are healthy and happy.
When Symptoms Show
There are lots of different symptoms for STIs that can mean a lot of different things. Some STIs share symptoms, while others have really unique indicators that you’ve contracted something. Just because you are showing symptoms of an STI doesn’t mean that it is too late for recovery.
